"Das Absurde u. der Witz", published in Erlangen, Germany in 1983, is an essay by Prof. Hiebel about Beckett's "Three Novellas".
"Ich glaube auch, jenen Uhrenschlag zu hören" ("I think I, too, hear that stroke of the clock.") Allusion to the poem "Der Horcher" (The Listener) in the volume that Prof. Hiebel had sent to Beckett about June/July, 1985. It contained the linesnur einen leichten Uhrenschlag höre ich...
just the faint strokes of the clock I hear...
